Who We Are
Each year, 119 billion pounds of food is wasted in the United States. That equates to 130 billion meals and more than $408 billion in food thrown away each year. Shockingly, nearly 40% of all food in America is wasted. (Reference : https://www.feedingamerica.org/our-work/reduce-food-waste)
An idea during my masters program at GWU (George Washington University) has motivated me to start this initiative of a non profit program to save food by connecting with local food stores and save food and serve it to the needy communities.
I am an immigrant residing in Fremont, California since 2013 with my family working at a private organization as a Director. I was moved and motivated during my research project about the amount of food wasted yearly and what percentage of food from local stores contributes to the overall waste. This inspired to come up with an assessment and connect with my local communities to propose a software program which identifies food that is going to be expired and collect it and cook them within our local kitchens by a group of volunteers and serve them at the needed communities.
We launched ourselves as a group of passionate individuals who are driven by a mission to do our part to save food within our communities and hoping to inspire every one around US to join us and help in saving food by serving.
